Supporting Students to Take Action Through #DesignThinking
Session Description: There is a shift going on in education, a movement towards more personalized student-centered pedagogies, with students at the center of learning they care about. With a world faced with so many challenges, students want to step up and address issues they care about in local and GLocal contexts. This session shows how to use Design Thinking to support student action on issues they care about, and connect this process to the UN SDGs, concepts linked to DEJI and Inclusive Leadership for empowered student learning.
Students from Spectrum Progressive School’s Student Ambassador Program group will join us to share their project work raising awareness of the impact human actions have on the environment, especially endangered species, through creating posters, speaking at school assemblies, partnering with local communities, and creating a website that tells who they are, why they care about their cause, and how people can take immediate action to make a lasting impact.
